New York City. May 2020.

I’ve been in NYC working a COVID-19 crisis assignment with NYC Health & Hospitals. Today, I had the day off and was very thankful to be able to explore this city, camera in hand. I braved the subway for the first time, made it to World Trade Center 1, Ground Zero, shed some tears, found the flower district, bought a plant, found a friend in a cat named Ginger, and made it back to Uptown without getting lost or losing my metro card.

In this short amount of time, New York City and its people have won my heart.

There is fatigue, fear, heart break, frustration, and incredible strength.

I am honored to be here with them.

We all have an unsuspected reserve of strength inside that emerges when life puts us to the test. - Isabel Allende
